The KJM Foundation continues to fulfill its mission of empowering youth through dedicated educational support programs. In its latest endeavor, the foundation made a substantial donation to Kwameta Basic School in the Central Region of Ghana. This school, located in the Komenda district, has long struggled with a lack of basic resources necessary for its operation. Not only does it serve the Kwameta area, but it also caters to five other surrounding communities, further exacerbating the dire situation.

Addressing Educational Challenges in Kwameta

As part of its core mandate to support socio-economic development nationwide, the KJM Foundation identified Kwameta Basic School as a beneficiary of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The foundation sought to address the school’s shortage of educational materials, including school desks, books, and other essential resources crucial for effective teaching and learning. Moreover, the needs assessment highlighted that the Kwameta community primarily relies on farming activities for economic sustainability, and the lack of access to quality education poses a significant social challenge.

Collaborating with Harvard Business School

To execute this project successfully, the KJM Foundation partnered with the esteemed Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts. The collaboration proved pivotal in ensuring the initiative’s success. On August 26, 2019, the project concluded with a generous donation of materials worth GHc 3000.00 being presented to the school. The Headmaster, teaching and administrative staff, as well as the Chief of Kwameta and his council of elders, gratefully received the donation. The pupils, who were present during the presentation, were overwhelmed with joy at the sight of new pencils, erasers, school bags, and books, among other items.

Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Success

Despite significant obstacles such as poor road conditions surrounding the Kwameta village and language barriers, the project accomplished its initial objectives. The KJM Foundation considers this endeavor another resounding success. Special gratitude is extended to the Harvard Business School for their invaluable assistance in carrying out the project. It is hoped that this collaboration will pave the way for future partnerships and more extensive developmental projects benefiting communities facing similar circumstances.
